Mana Corporation History

Mana Corporation was founded in 2017 with a simple purpose: to help Latino families find the familiar foods and flavors that connect them to home. Founded by Sergio Herrera, our company began in a living room with just ten boxes of tortillas and a belief that a small business could create meaningful opportunities for others.
Today, based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, we distribute Hispanic foods and beverages to independent retailers across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, surrounding Maryland communities, and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Our story continues to be guided by the philosophy that inspired our beginnings: “Crecer para Bendecir”—Grow to Bless.
Mana Corporation
The Early Years
Every business starts somewhere. For Mana Corporation, that place was a residential living room.
In 2017, Sergio Herrera started the company with a modest inventory of ten boxes of tortillas. The vision behind those first boxes was much larger: to bring culturally authentic products to the stores where Latino communities shop and to build a business that could support the people doing that work.
Our beginnings shaped our purpose. Food is more than something on a shelf. It can be a familiar breakfast, a favorite childhood snack, or an ingredient in a recipe passed down through generations. Helping retailers make those products available became the foundation of Mana Corporation.
Growing Beyond Our Beginnings
As our business grew, so did our product selection and the infrastructure needed to serve our customers.
Mana Corporation established its warehouse and operational headquarters at 7800 Airpark Road, Suite 24, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. From this base, we supply neighborhood bodegas, carnicerías, panaderías, and regional supermarkets with products that reflect the communities they serve.
Our assortment expanded beyond tortillas to include beverages, pantry staples, snacks, sweets, and other grocery products. Along the way, our mission remained consistent: to reach more points of sale where Latino consumers look for the foods and brands they know.
Connecting Products with Neighborhood Stores
Our growth is built around serving retailers directly.
Through Direct Store Delivery, we bring products from our Gaithersburg warehouse to individual stores. This approach connects our distribution operation with the neighborhood businesses that make familiar foods accessible to local families.
Our service area includes the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region, Maryland communities such as Frederick, and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. As these communities evolve, we continue working toward broader coverage while keeping our focus on culturally relevant products and personal service.
The Products We Bring to Market
Our history is also a story of the foods and beverages we distribute. Our catalog brings together brands associated with Central America, South America, and Mexico, helping retailers offer a selection that speaks to different culinary traditions.
Beverages
Our beverage assortment includes Del Frutal nectars in familiar flavors such as guava, peach, pear, pineapple, apple, and banana-strawberry.
Alongside these nectars, our catalog includes soft drinks and energy drinks, giving retailers options for everyday purchases and on-the-go refreshment.
Foods and Pantry Staples
Everyday cooking starts with dependable ingredients.
Our food selection includes Harina P.A.N. white and yellow cornmeal, Maseca, Natura’s beans, and Conquistador rice and olive oil. These products help neighborhood stores stock the staples customers seek for traditional meals and daily cooking.
Snacks
Familiar snacks can carry a strong connection to home.
Our snack assortment includes Zambos plantain chips, Taqueritos, Ranchitas, Chicharrones Señorial, and Manzela Japanese peanuts. With different flavors and formats, these products give retailers ways to serve a range of customer preferences.
Sweets
Our sweets selection includes Arcor Bon-O-Bon, Paleta Payaso, and other treats that add variety to the neighborhood grocery shelf.
Together with our beverages, foods, and snacks, these products reflect our focus on recognizable brands and culturally meaningful choices.
Growing to Bless
“Crecer para Bendecir” is more than our motto. It expresses the connection between our commercial mission and our commitment to creating opportunities.
We seek to grow our reach, generate jobs, and support stable livelihoods for the people who contribute to our business. Serving more retailers means more opportunities to connect communities with familiar foods—and more opportunities to build a company that benefits others.
From ten boxes of tortillas in a living room to a regional wholesale distribution business, Mana Corporation continues to build on the vision that started it all: grow with purpose, serve our communities, and help bring the flavors of home closer.
